Susan joined the Lighthouse Child Advocacy Center in August 2014 as the Center’s very first Family Advocate, and it was clear from the beginning that she had a natural calling for this work. Susan brought both professional and personal insights that made her a perfect fit for the role. She was named Interim Executive Director in June 2015 and, through hard work and dedication, officially became Executive Director in February 2016.
Susan quickly developed a passion for advocacy, realizing the deep need for the Lighthouse CAC’s services in Wetzel and Tyler Counties. She finds tremendous fulfillment in witnessing the children they serve heal and grow into successful young adults. However, she’s also seen the challenges that some continue to face, which strengthens her commitment to the CAC’s mission.
Outside of her role, Susan lives in Wetzel County with her husband, son, and their cat, Coby. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, traveling, bargain shopping, and is active in her church. Recently honored with the 2024 WVCAN “One with Courage” award, Susan is proud to lead a dedicated team that continually strives to create a safe, supportive space for every child.
